Do you need a new lawn?

You know the problem. We know the fix.

Most people don't call a turf layer out of the blue — something's gone wrong with the garden and they want it sorted properly. Find the situation that looks like yours below, and see exactly how we put it right, from the ground up.

01

The builders have wrecked your lawn

What it looks like

Churned-up ground, ruts from machinery and materials, compacted soil and dead patches left behind after an extension, driveway or landscaping job.

Why it happens

Building work compacts the soil, buries rubble and rubbish under the surface, and kills off whatever grass survives the traffic. Trying to patch or re-seed over it rarely works because the ground underneath is the real problem.

How we fix it

We strip out the damaged lawn, dig out the buried debris and rubble, break up the compaction, re-level and grade the ground and lay a fresh topsoil base — then lay new turf. It's some of the most common work we do, and it's exactly what Chris's review describes: damaged by building work, fully re-turfed within a week.

02

You've moved in and the garden is bare earth

What it looks like

A new-build or newly cleared garden that's just rough soil, rubble and weeds — no lawn at all, and no idea where to start.

Why it happens

New-build gardens are almost always left as compacted subsoil with builder's rubble mixed in and little or no proper topsoil. Seed thrown onto that struggles, and the result is a thin, weedy apology for a lawn.

How we fix it

We clear and level the plot, remove rubble and debris, lay a quality topsoil base and install fresh turf, so you go from bare earth to a finished, usable lawn in a day or two rather than nursing seed for a year.

Years of kids and dogs have destroyed it

What it looks like

Worn tracks, bald muddy patches, thin threadbare grass and scorched areas where the lawn has simply given up under heavy family use.

Why it happens

Constant foot traffic, play and pets compact the soil and wear the grass faster than it can recover, until re-seeding and feeding can't keep up. At that point the lawn needs rebuilding, not rescuing.

How we fix it

We take it back to bare earth, put right the compacted, tired ground and lay a hard-wearing turf grade built for family gardens — so you get a fresh, tough lawn that can take the wear again.

04

The lawn is bumpy, uneven or badly drained

What it looks like

A lawn that's lumpy and awkward to mow, dips that hold water after rain, or an obvious slope in the wrong direction.

Why it happens

Uneven ground and poor falls are set into the soil beneath the grass, so top-dressing only ever half-fixes it. Heavy clay makes it worse by holding water where it puddles.

How we fix it

The only lasting fix is to lift the lawn, re-level and grade the ground so it falls the right way, improve heavy clay with a topsoil base, then lay fresh turf onto a properly prepared, even surface.

05

The old lawn is more moss and weeds than grass

What it looks like

A patchy, mossy, weed-ridden lawn that's thinned out over the years and never really recovers, no matter how much you feed or rake it.

Why it happens

Once an old lawn is mostly moss, weeds and worn-out grass over compacted soil, treatments only ever buy time. Sometimes the honest answer is that a fresh start will cost less frustration than years of patching.

How we fix it

Where a lawn is genuinely past saving, we clear it, prepare the ground properly and lay new turf for a clean, even result — and we'll tell you honestly if we think that's the right call for your garden, or if it isn't.

06

You want a lawn that's kinder to nature

What it looks like

A plain green lawn that you'd happily trade for something lower-maintenance, more drought-resistant or better for pollinators.

Why it happens

Standard grass lawns need regular mowing, feeding and watering to stay green, and offer little for wildlife. More people are asking for an alternative that looks good and does more.

How we fix it

We install specialist turf varieties — wildflower turf for a meadow feel and clover-blend turf that stays green in drought and feeds the bees — laid with the same care and preparation as any lawn.
